The original production first premiered in London’s West End in 1987 and has been performed continuously for an astounding 38 years. Based on Gaston Leroux's classic novel „Le Fantôme de L'Opéra“, set in the opulent Paris of the 1930s, the story follows a brilliant but mysterious musical genius known only as “The Phantom”, who lurks beneath the Paris Opera House. Enchanted by the beauty and talent of a young soprano named Christine, the Phantom takes her under his wing and falls in love with her. As Christine’s heart belongs to Raoul, the Phantom’s obsessive love sparks a dramatic tale of jealousy, madness, and passion.
